課程概述 |
Undergraduate Research is designed for undergraduates who are interested in evolutionary genetic and genomics. Students will focus on a gene annotation project based on materials provided by Genome Education Partnership (GEP, http://gep.wustl.edu). This is part of the Drosophila dot chromosome project, http://gep.wustl.edu/projects/dot_chromosome. Students participate in this project will manually annotate a 40-Kb genome fragment and write a report. After the initial annotation project, students are encourage to work on more genome fragment or work on another project using RNAseq data.
Official Language is English. Students are encourage to communicate in English. International students major in biology are welcome. All students should e-mail the instructor in advance. |

The aims of this course is to allow students participating on genome projects through gene annotation project. We will teach students the basic knowledge on genome science. |

We expect students finish at least 1 of the following projects:
1. Gene Annotation Project: Annotate one 40-Kb genome fragment
2. RNAseq Project: Gene expression profiling
3. Genotyping by sequencing: SNP profiling |
